The study of Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems inevitably leads to the evaluation of the potential effects, in the various possible applications, from an economic and social perspective. In Europe, the AI Regulation (AI Act) provides a framework of rules for the protection of the fundamental interests of European citizens, while technical regulations, conformity assessment and accreditation will play a significant role in its effective application.
In this context, the role of Accredia, the Italian Accreditation Body, will be to support the Authorities, which will represent the governance in this sector, in ensuring the competence of the bodies that will certify the AI systems, selected on the basis of their risk assessment.
Accredia has dedicated to these topics, the new study of the Accredia Osservatorio “Technical standards and accredited conformity assessment for the development of Artificial Intelligence systems”, created in collaboration with the National Laboratory of Artificial Intelligence and Intelligent Systems (AIIS) of the National Interuniversity Consortium for Computer Science (CINI).
