Accredia is the Home AB in Europe for issuing accreditations under the ReMade® scheme

ReMade® is the first Italian scheme for the recycled content of products, accredited and recognized at the European level by EA; Accredia coordinates the accreditation of certification bodies in Europe as the Home Accreditation Body.

The European co-operation for Accreditation (EA) has recognized the ReMade® certification scheme within the European accreditation system, following a successful evaluation conducted in July. Accredia, acting as the Home Accreditation Body (AB), serves as the point of contact for all EA members wishing to issue accreditations under the scheme.

Accredited certification of recycled material

The ReMade® accredited certification—now also recognized within the European accreditation system coordinated by EA—focuses on the content of recycled material and by-products in a given good. It applies not only to finished products but also to the materials and semi-finished components that make them up, including multi-material solutions, which are often the most difficult to trace back to their origins.

Organizations certified under accreditation in accordance with this proprietary scheme apply rules and procedures to measure this content and track it throughout the production process, ensuring transparency at every stage.

The result is a reliable assessment of the material’s origin and the path it follows throughout the entire supply chain. Accredited product certification attests to the actual use of recovered or recycled material—and, where applicable, by-products—within the product.

A significant commitment to support companies that produce recycled materials, those that manufacture products containing recycled content, and public administrations—such as majority publicly-owned companies—that purchase goods made from recycled material.

The benefits of European accreditation

In its role as Home AB, Accredia serves as the reference point for European accreditation bodies wishing to issue certification under the ReMade® scheme, ensuring its uniform application through verification processes that are equivalent and comparable across different countries. The European matrix system, guaranteed by EA, ensures rigorous controls, impartial assessments, and comparable outcomes.

Certification bodies are accredited in accordance with the international standard ISO/IEC 17065 for the certification of products and services, and are subject to supervision by the accreditation body, which verifies their technical competence and independence.

Transparent rules, rigorous assessment criteria, and consistent governance contribute to the reliability and comparability of data. For businesses, public administrations, and consumers, certification accredited to the scheme serves as a recognizable and comparable tool that supports market strategies, the management of international supply chains, and the showcasing of commitments to the circular economy.
