Accredia 2026 Annual Meeting: Annual Report and Financial Statements approved, accreditation on the rise
Members approved the organization’s documents and reviewed the 2025 results: over 100,000 certified companies and growth in accreditations across strategic sectors. The meeting bid farewell to Filippo Trifiletti and welcomed Simona Quinzi.
On July 2, the annual General Assembly of Accredia was held in Rome at Confartigianato Imprese, where members approved the 2025 Final Financial Statements and Activity Report, as well as the Budget and Program for 2026.
The meeting, chaired by President Prof. Massimo De Felice, opened with a message from Sen. Mara Bizzotto, Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, who expressed appreciation for Accredia’s role as a benchmark for the accreditation and conformity assessment system, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the Ministry and the organization’s contribution to the development of the national productive fabric.
“The 2025 Report confirms that accreditation is playing an increasingly cross-cutting role in market regulation, control, and qualification processes,” stated Accredia President Prof. Massimo De Felice. “At a time when sustainability, safety, digital transformation, and skills require reliable data and independent verification, accreditation helps make information more robust, processes more transparent, and dialogue between businesses, Institutions, and citizens more effective. Our inclusion in the National Statistical System is recognition of Accredia’s constant focus on data quality.”
Growing numbers: accreditations, certifications and revenue
The General Assembly provided an opportunity to share the results achieved in 2025 and the prospects for the development of accreditation, at a time when demand for accredited services continues to grow in the sectors most relevant to businesses, public administrations, and markets.
As highlighted in the 2025 Annual Report, Accredia managed a total of 2,669 accreditations involving 2,398 bodies and laboratories, conducting 22,402 assessment days—approximately 1,200 more than the previous year. The number of companies with certified management systems under accreditation has exceeded 100,000, representing over 40% of the total revenue of Italian companies.
Sector development: management systems, persons and claims
Among the most dynamic areas of accreditation is gender equality certification according to UNI/PdR 125, established as part of the PNRR and now among the most widespread: there are 64 accredited certification bodies and approximately 48,000 certified company sites. This certification allows companies to demonstrate, through specific indicators, their commitment to governance, human resources management, career opportunities, pay equity, and parental leave protections.
ISO/IEC 27001 certification for information security management systems is also on the rise, with 32 accredited certification bodies and 11,099 certified sites, confirming companies’ growing focus on data protection, cybersecurity, and digital resilience.
Also significant is the development of persons certification by 96 bodies accredited under UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17024. This area includes the topic of digital skills among school staff: certifications based on the European frameworks DigComp 2.2 and DigCompEdu, issued under accreditation, have reached approximately 500,000 and 150,000 certifications, respectively.
On the environmental front, the UNI CEI EN ISO/IEC 17029 standard strengthens the role of accredited bodies in the verification and validation of claims, helping to make the information communicated by companies and organizations more credible and verifiable. The standard has applications in areas such as greenhouse gases, the EU ETS, product carbon footprints, combating greenwashing, and sustainable finance, with 19 accreditations already issued.
The future of Governance: saying farewell to Trifiletti and welcoming Quinzi
The General Assembly also marked a significant moment in the organization’s history, with a farewell to Filippo Trifiletti, General Director of Accredia for 17 years, and a welcome to Simona Quinzi, the new General Director who will take the helm of the organization starting this coming September.
On behalf of the member organizations, Vice President Luciano Gaiotti expressed gratitude for Trifiletti’s leadership, highlighting the pivotal role he played in the founding and growth of Accredia and in building an authoritative body recognized both nationally and internationally. His tenure was characterized by competence, balance, and the ability to maintain cohesion within the accreditation community.
The General Assembly concluded with best wishes for the new General Director’s work and with the reaffirmation of Accredia’s commitment to continuing its path of growth in support of businesses, institutions, and the national economy.
